Parco della Favorita

The Parco della Favorita is also called 'Real Estate Favorita', because at the beginning the park was used as a hunting ground and place of delight for the Bourbon King and his court. The park's long avenues , named after Diana and Hercules, first were  places for long strolls, then turned into two arteries of communication, because they connect Palermo to Mondello.

In ancient times a residence with oriental traits was built, the bizarre Palazzino Chinese. Mext to the park is the interesting ethnographic museum Museo Etnografico Siciliano Pitrè.

The Parco della Favorita is the green lung of Palermo and houses the representative office of the Mayor, Villa Niscemi, as well as the stadium, the trot racecourse and other sports facilities.
