Leave the city buzz of Catania behind as we head toward the majestic skyline of Mount Etna. This isn't just a walk, it's an immersive adventure that takes you high onto the slopes of Europe's most active volcano, crossing through its extraordinary belts of biodiversity.
You'll witness the landscape transform: from the lush orchards of the foothills to the forests of birch, pine, and endemic Etna broom, before finally reaching the high-altitude 'volcanic desert'. Led by an expert guide, you'll hike across stark lava fields and lunar terrains, climbing toward the upper reaches of the mountain.
As we ascend, you'll be rewarded with an amazing view with the summit craters facing the Ionian Coast stretching beneath you. We will reach a breathtaking vantage point overlooking the Valle del Bove, a massive, ancient depression that reveals the true raw scale of Etna's power and its geological history.

The adventure continues as we pass through a volcanic underworld. You will cross a lava cave, a natural tunnel formed by ancient flows. This passage offers a direct glimpse into the volcano's inner structure before we begin our descent. The experience concludes with a comfortable drive back to Catania, with drop-off at the original meeting point. Important Information
- The tour involves hiking on uneven volcanic terrain, often moving off-trail and across rugged surfaces. Etna’s weather can be unpredictable: it can be very cold in winter and intensely sunny in summer. To stay comfortable, we highly recommend dressing in layers (onion style). A good physical condition and a bit of hiking experience are recommended, as we will navigate challenging landscapes before the final fun descent on soft volcanic ash. This setup allows you to fully enjoy the adventure as we move from the warmer valley to the cooler, windier altitudes of the volcano
