Sicily
The museum was founded in 1909 by the Sicilian scholar Giuseppe Pitre. It is currently divided into two sites: one part is in the Parco della Favorita, the other in the Palazzo Tarallo Ferla - Cottone di Altamira, in the district Albergheria.
Inside the museum features twenty sections documenting the customs and traditions of the Sicilian people, including the ethnic Albanian minority, but also the myths, traditions and beliefs of Sicily. Adjacent to the museum is a rich library that preserves over 30,000 volumes, including prints, engravings, photographs and the important documentary collection 'Giuseppe Pitre'.
Entrance: free (Feb 2014)
