Description

After being picked up at your hotel we will travel to the south-east of Sicily and after about an hour's journey we will reach Noto, a jewel of Sicilian baroque town, destroyed by the catastrophic earthquake in 1693. The main axis that we will follow on foot is Corso Vittorio Emanuele, announced by the Porta Reale, a monumental entrance in the shape of a triumphal arch erected in the 19th century. Continuing we will arrive at the Church of San Francesco with its majestic steps and at the Palazzo Ducezio, located in the Piazza del Municipio. Admiring the many churches and palaces we will make a short visit to the Mother Church with the Bishop's Palace and the Church of San Salvatore. Also unmissable is a visit to the Palazzo Nicolaci with its ornamental balconies, symbol of the Neto baroque. As soon as the visit to Noto is over we head towards Syracuse, about 40 minutes away. We will start with the Neapolis Archaeological Park, the most representative area of the ancient Greek city with large green spaces from where, on foot, you can reach many of the archaeological monuments via an ancient Roman road. We will visit most of the classical monuments of the city such as the famous Greek Theatre, the Roman Amphitheatre, the Latomie del Paradiso and the Ear of Dionysus. Next, we will reach the small island of Ortigia, a jewel of the city center of Syracuse. Among Greek temples, Christian churches, Arab streets and important ancient buildings, we will visit the local market, the suggestive Piazza del Duomo, the splendid Fonte Aretusa, a meeting place between reality and legend and one of the most beautiful monuments of the city, the Temple of Apollo and the Maniace Castle, one of the most important monuments of the Swabian period in Syracuse.
