Riserva Naturale di Capogallo
Sicily
The nature reserve Riserva Naturale di Capogallo near Palermo is not only rich in vegetation but also a place that stands out for the beauty of its caves, and their major archaeological and paleontological importance. Situated between the seaside resorts of Mondello and Sferracavallo, the Monte Gallo is a promontory of karst nature with a white building shaped like a tower, called the 'Traffic Light', which stands on its summit. Ornithologists can admire, looking up to the sky, a number of herring gulls, kestrels, robins and peregrine falcons.
A visit to Capogallo can easily combined with some hours at the beautiful white sandy beach of Mondello.
