Scopello
Sicily
The scenery will blow you away as Scopello is full of colours, rural life and history.
Scopello dates back as far as the 18th century and its name meaning rock describes this enchanting village perfectly - evocative rocks and a rocky coast are rising from the dark blue sea. Dominating them are two Medieval rock towers, the Faraglioni.
You can visit the old tuna station. Nowadays only a few parts are accessible -there are some superb cliffs and concretes for soaking up the blazing sun or crystal clear water for dunking.
The heart of Scopello is the Baglio where you can hide from the sun and refresh yourself with drinks and ice cream or munch on paninis. There is a lovely fountain outside the Baglio and a few steps away there are some more restaurants and hotels.
