Museo Civico Belliniano - Museo Vincenzo Bellini
Sicily
The Museo Vincenzo Bellini is located in the 18th-century Palazzo Gravina Cruylas, the place where the musician and opera composer was born on the night between 2nd and 3rd of November 1801.
The birth house was declared a national monument in 1923 and opened May 1930. The museum follows the evolution of the birthplace of the composer's life and career, starting at a small entrance that leads to the alcove where little Bellini was born, and ends in the small funeral room, in Bellini's times the kitchen. Of particular interest is the hall D, which shows a collection of autographic music manuscripts.
The museum features now, after a long period of renovation, a new and larger layout, continuing its exposure on the main floor of the same building, where visitors can admire the impressive collection of pianos. The rich library of the museum was also relocated to the main floor media room.
