Galleria Regionale Palazzo Bellomo - Art Museum
Sicily
The gallery illustrates the development of figurative Syracuse and more generally in the south-eastern Sicily, with particular regard to paintings and decorative arts
The collections of medieval and modern art (a collection of works dating from the Byzantine period to the eighteenth century) come from the Archaeological Museum of Syracuse.
Part of these collections came from churches and monasteries in south-eastern Sicily as a result of the suppression of the religious orders (1866), while others arrived at the museum for purchases and donations.
The arrangement is designed according to a strictly chronological criterion. The exhibition takes place on two levels.
Entrance fee (2013): € 8,00, reduced ticket € 4,00, residents of Syracuse € 1,00
