Corso Umberto I in Bagheria
Sicily
Since the Corso Umberto I was enhanced and became a pedestrian area, on one hand one seems to be immersed in the old Bagheria of the times of Palermitan aristocrats and rich families, walking from the main square with the Mother Church, which became famous for the film 'Baaria', to the bizarre Villa Palagonia on the other end of the street. On the other visitors are in the present and can do some shopping in the few nice shops and relax in one of the cafes that border the Corso Umberto.
Don't expect a maximum of cleanliness or restored old palazzos and buildings, but the Corso Umberto I is nearly the only pedestrian street in the area and it is a pleasant walk through the faded grandeur of Bagheria.
