Mercato di Ballarò

The Ballarò market has a breath and turns even foreigners, who are working there for years now, into Sicilians.  It is throng of people, a riot of colours and objects and stuff to eat, and full of sounds and smells.
Tourists will find it interesting because of the colourful place. There is very little to buy for the visitors of Palermo, but instead all kinds of foodstuffs, fruits and vegetables, fish and meat at competitive costs. The market is lively and crowded. However, it is crossed by young men on motorbikes that create many difficulties. Beware of pickpockets performing robberies with dexterity or surround the victim in two or three.
At the end of the market there are restaurants that sell fish dishes, none of them has a menu or price indications. Once you are seated, the restaurant owners can charge whatever they want. However, with all necessary precautions, a must-visit!
