Noto, Modica and Ragusa: The Baroque Tour from Catania
135 ReviewsDiscover the heart of Sicily of the late Baroque period. Rebuilt after the devastating earthquake of 1693 it is part of UNESCO's World Heritage.
Il Barcaiaolo is not only family owned, but also operated. Papa is the grill man, Uncle is the sauté chef and one daughter runs the rest of the show in the kitchen. The son and another daughter are responsible for the guest room. They offer food for every budget and it is one of the few restaurants where you can order the tourist menu without hesitating.
Fish comes fresh and perfectly grilled or cooked. They make a 'parmigiana' to die for, and also the rest of the Sicilian specialties are worth a try. We like especially the seafood linguine, the fried calamari, the veal in Marsala wine, and for dessert a cassata siciliana. Quite a few choices also for non seafood lovers and vegetarians.
If you think the wine on the list is too expensive, try the house wine.
So, have seat at the wooden terrace on the beach and enjoy!
Il Barcaiolo is very popular - table reservation required. Closed on Wednesdays
