Villa Giulia (Villa Flora), Palermo
Sicily
The decoration of the magnificent garden-park Villa Giulia is outstanding. Among the most important sculptures there is the fountain of the Genius of Palermo, Ignatius Marabitti, which is surrounded by four neoclassical exedras and located in the central part of the park. Pretty ponds with minnows and aviaries with exotic birds, a tub of fish and turtles and small rides for children are among the attractions for kids, who can also take advantage of the beautiful, clean and very well kept expanses of green. Designed at the end of the nineteenth century and expanded over the next century, Villa Giulia was the first public park in Palermo.
Local Tip: from a small hill inside the park you can enjoy the view of the entire green area.
Villa Giulia is a lovely place to escape from the heat of Sicilian summers.
