The island of Stromboli and the small islet of Strombolicchio belong to the Aeolian Islands. There is a very rich endemic and also rare flora. Aeolian cornflowers and laburnum The flora is very rich in endemic and rare species. There are also oaks, broom, crops and wild olive trees. 
 
Populating the air and the ground are falcons, kestrels, wheatears, buzzards, Cory's shearwaters, herring gulls, larks, Sardinian warblers, plaices, wild rabbits, black rats and endemic lizards. If you are lucky you'll also see a Sphinx, a large butterfly which can be up to 10 cm.

Worth a visit is also the underwater world of Stromboli and its little brother. The sea is crystal clear and limpid, and there are corals, sea anemones and many other sea creatures to be seen.

Volcano trekking is possible with a guide.
