Museo Internazionale delle Marionette Pasqualino
Sicily
All of the puppets on display are handmade antiques, some of them centuries old, from Sicily as well as other parts of Italy. The collection also includes puppets crafted in other parts of the world, as well as the English 'Punch and Judy'. The history of the museum is inextricably linked to its founder Antonio Pasqualino, who died in 1995 and was surgeon, anthropologist and student of history and folk traditions of his native earth Sicily.
Since then the museum hosts the annual Festival of Morgana and cultural exchanges with similar facilities on five continents.
The museum is spread over three levels and also houses a number of galleries, a bookshop, a library, a video library, a tape library and a hall that can accommodate a large theatre program. It offers guided tours, courses, workshops, exhibitions and performances (but no puppet shows), and is a wonderful setting for special events and conferences.
