The eighteenth-century Palazzo dei Padri Mercedari in Modica, which was used during the plague of 1709 as a hospital, is now home to the Museo Ibleo Arti e Tradizione Popolare.

If you are interested in life and work of past times in the Hyblaean Mountains you should pay a visit to this interesting museum in Modica. It is a place that shows workers in their "natural" environment, their workshops, a place that brings back to life some of the most ancient Sicilian crafts. The houses of cobblers, saddlers, blacksmiths, carpenters, tailors, tinsmiths and others have been reconstructed and show the spaces where they worked and lived: workshop, bedroom, kitchen, barn...
