Museo Archeologico Regionale A. Salinas

Sicily

The oldest part of the museum features the collections from the Museum of the University established in 1814. Over the years materials from private and ecclesiastical authorities were added and accidental discoveries from archaeological excavations.

The exhibition is divided over three floors.

Especially interesting pieces are the examples of prehistoric cave drawings and a marvellously reconstructed Doric frieze from the Greek temple at Selinunte, which reveals the high level of artistic culture attained by the Greek colonists in Sicily some 2,500 years ago.

Entrance fee: € 4

Free entrance for EU citizens under the age of 18 and over 65 years.
