Brolo

Sicily

Try "Ramon", a simple, if not to say shabby, trattoria. The fish dishes we had were very good and prepared with an accuracy that did not reveal the location.

Start your visit  of Brolo from the castle whichs visitors are all taken by the merlons with their swallow tail profile that crown the majestic defence tower. The tower was already known by Arab geographers in 1094 and is now a beautiful balcony overlooking the Aeolian Islands

In the historical centre are still the antique guard towers and walkways of the 16th century walls and the first residential settlement of the village. Due to the narrow streets and alleyways it resembles a Kasba.

The great attraction of Brolo is ice cream! In June a gala is held where you can try more than hundred different flavours.

A typical dish is pasta 'Incaciata alla Brolese' with a sauce made of sausage, fennel seeds, tomatoes, broccoli and hot peppers. A must-try are the main courses 'Tuna Imbottonato' and 'Galletto Arrostito alla Brolese' (Roast Cockerel).
