Therme San Calogero
Sicily
San Calogero 'Stufe di San Calogero' is located on the western part of the Lipari Island and its hyperthermal waters have been known for their healing and therapeutic properties thanks to the salt, sodium and sulphate findings and have been used heavily in the past particularly by the Arabs and Romans.
The modern spa was closed, unfortunately, but the old thermal domed chamber, nestled amongst the ruins of historical buildings, is still in use today and allows its visitors to enjoy a dunk in the hot springs gushing from the ground to an outside pool with a temperature up to 60°C. There a few benches inside the chamber which is used as a sauna.
