Regional & Local Sicilian Cuisine
La Siciliana in Catania was founded in 1968 and since then is run by the family La Rosa, currently led by the brothers Vito and Salvo offering good quality cooking and efficient service.
Vito creates a scrumptious menu which is based on traditional recipes and flavours. His specialities are seafood and traditional Sicilian dishes that you might not find in any other restaurant. Go for 'Ripiddu Nivicatu', a rice dish made with cuttle fish ink, topped with ricotta cheese and a bit of red tomato sauce - it's supposed to look like Mount Etna and it does indeed.
If you don't fancy fish try breaded cutlets or roast lamb - they are made to perfection. Big selection of pasta dishes and risottos are amongst lunchtime favourites.
Salvo supervises the restaurant's efficient and personal service and 'holds the key' to the wine cellar boasting around 200 fine wine labels and several champagnes.
La Siciliana also has a splendid garden terrace for al fresco dining.
