A major attraction of Catania are undoubtedly the beverage kiosks, serving refreshing summer drinks, typical of the city's culture. The kiosks of the drinks are unique in their kind: first there were the vendors of soft drinks, the Zammù. This activity has stabilized at strategic shady places, the sellers were placed in these particular square or circular stalls from which they distribute all kind of drinks, cool beer, coffee and all sorts of refreshing fruit drinks.
The phenomenon of the kiosks began in 1896.
The most famous drink of Chiosco Giammona which can be enjoyed is the soda, lemon juice and salt, a very refreshing yet simple recipe.
Giammona offers several sorts of beer, coffee, and cool drinks based on syrups, like orange, pineapple, bitter, strawberry, lemon, tangerine, mint and tamarind.
