Mercati Generali is around 20 minutes of drive from Catania. And let me assure you it's well worth the drive. Mercati Generali is clubbing of a high standard. Start with the entrance which is flanked by huge palms and often light up with candles.
The club boasts three fabulous rooms, Palmento room with exposed barrel vaults being our favourite, a spacious palm-shaded courtyard, which is a great backdrop for life summer concerts, parties and events and a terrace area where you can dine and wine to your heart's content.
The food includes anything from snack food, pizzas baked in wood fired owen , pasta dishes while the soundtrack cranks up from hip hop and R&B chill to serious house, drum and base and dubstep beats as the evening wears on. If you come before midnight the entrance is free, after midnight the club gets quickly filled up with young Italians drinking luxurious cocktails and prosecco.
Mercato Generali is Gilles Peterson favourite place to play along with Manu Chao, Jamie Lidell and others that have played in her.
