La Zagara is a wonderful addition to the restaurant scene of Taormina, it opened in April 2014. There are many restaurants in Taormina, some of them very good and with a reasonable quality/price ratio, but many are far too much focussed on tourists, who eat there once in a lifetime - and this shows in quality, quantity and prices. La Zagara offers true Sicilian cuisine, from meat to fish, and everything is skilfully prepared, with a touch off elegance and innovation.
Beginners should opt for the delicious seafood starters - red prawns, shrimps with pistachios, octopus salad, tuna and swordfish carpaccio, fried calamari, peppered mussels, fritters and marinated anchovis babies. Amazingly good and to be washed down with a fresh and light local white wine.
Great service, courteous and kind staff, and, over all, absolutely reasonable prices for the quality you get.
