Noto, Modica and Ragusa: The Baroque Tour from Catania
116 ReviewsDiscover the heart of Sicily of the late Baroque period. Rebuilt after the devastating earthquake of 1693 it is part of UNESCO's World Heritage.
At the pastry shop Scalici you'll find the best of traditional local sweets, pastries and cakes. Ok, this is not a very cozy place where one would like to stay for hours. It is just like many other small businesses in Italy, where people stop in the morning on their way to work for a quick coffee, some cookies or a croissant. And where they buy their pastries. We love these small pastry shops, in particular the ones in villages. The atmosphere at the Pasticceria Scalici may be not very inviting but it doesn't matter, because the staff is helpful and friendly and their pastries and cakes are among the best we have ever eaten. No trendy decorations or whimsical cookies or trumsery. Instead customers will find traditional and authentic quality pastries at this small family run bakery. Products are manufactured according to the ancient Sicilian traditions of master craftsmen.
