Caffè Bar San Giorgio

Sicily

Cafés, Gelaterias, Pastry Shops & Street Food Off the beaten Path Wine, Oil, Pastries & other Sicilian delights

The bar's founder Don Vincenzo Blandano created a wine flavoured with almonds, which he called Blandanino.

Blandanino's ingredients are secret, it is a sweet liquid somewhere between wine and liqueur, has a dark amber colour and is made of Sicilian almonds, raisins, orange blossoms and spices. Many people tried to reproduce this elixir, but nobody managed to. Some original Blandaninos can still be found among the shelves of the Caffè Bar San GIorgio.

Mr Blandano did not only hand down to the new owners his special recipe of almond wine, when he sold his bar, he also handed down the tradition of tasting - his specialty in the place where it was invented.

Caffè Bar San Giorgio offers also sandwiches (panini), snacks and hearty Sicilian specialties, coffee and cold drinks. All this comes with splendid views.
