Description
Start your trek along the dirt road from Piano Provenzana to Mount Etna’s summit craters. Visit the ruins of Hotel delle Betulle, the only remaining structure from the 2002 lava flow.
Along the way, observe various volcanic features resulting from eruptions on Etna’s north side, with particular focus on flank eruptions and the recent one threatening Linguaglossa. See hornitos, small volcanic ovens, and ascend the cinder cones.
At the summit, peer over the crater edges and descend through a sandy channel back to the starting point.
