Description
The tour begins at 9:10 a.m. near 'Ristorante La Cantoniera' at 1,900 meters above sea level, where you meet your guide and complete formalities. Departure follows at 9:30 a.m.
The ascent includes a cable car ride to 2,500 meters and a 4x4 minibus up to 2,750 meters. From there, you hike with your guide to about 3,000 meters, gaining expansive views of Etna’s summit craters—including the Central Crater (Bocca Nuova and Voragine), South-East Crater, and North-East Crater—plus recent eruption sites from August 2025.
You will walk through a 200-meter lava flow tunnel formed by the latest eruptions. After exploring the summit area and recent volcanic activity sites, you descend on foot, crossing other eruption zones and the Valle del Bove to admire views of the Ionian coast, Aeolian Islands, and Calabria.
The return is by cable car to the starting point. The round-trip excursion lasts approximately four hours. Cable car and jeep fees are not included in the price.
