Description
When night falls, Ustica offers another perspective through which to get to know the island: the sky. With the scheduled transfer, you will reach a vantage point away from the lights of the town. Here, you can lie down comfortably on a yoga mat and observe the sky while Vittorio Arnò, a nature guide and island guide who has been a resident of Ustica for generations, accompanies you on a journey to discover the sky. You will learn to identify the main stars and constellations visible and discover how ancient civilizations transformed the sky into a story populated by gods, heroes and myths. Observing the sky will also be an opportunity to learn about modern astronomy: we will talk about the birth and evolution of stars, galaxies, and the immensity of the universe, coming to understand some of the most fascinating phenomena in space. No prior knowledge of astronomy is required. Vittorio explains even the most complex topics in simple and accessible language, alternating between scientific explanations, interesting facts, history, and mythology. His way of telling stories is based on a specific principle: you learn while having fun. That's why the experience is not an Astronomy lesson, but a fun and engaging way to learn about and read the sky. The experience is also linked to the book Toccare il cielo con il mito (Reaching for the Sky with Myth), written by Vittorio Arnò, in which astronomy, history and mythology come together. For about two hours, you will lie comfortably on the mat, observing the sky away from the town lights and letting yourself be guided among stars, constellations, myths, galaxies, and the universe. 'The experience is not held during the week of the full moon, to ensure more favorable conditions for observing the starry sky.'
