Description
This full-day tour departs from Catania and is suitable for travelers interested in history, nature, and local cuisine.
The tour begins with a pick-up from your accommodation at around 8:30 AM in a comfortable air-conditioned minivan. The first stop is Agrigento, once the wealthiest of all Greek colonies.
Explore the Valley of the Temples, protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, featuring some of the best-preserved ancient Greek temples worldwide. The site includes seven temples, including the Temple of Concordia, one of the best-preserved Greek temples globally. You will also see remains of temples dedicated to Juno, Hercules, Hephaestus, and Athena.
Next, visit Scala dei Turchi, located a few kilometers from Agrigento. This striking white rock formation rises from the clear blue sea and resembles giant steps. You can walk along this gentle slope above the sea and enjoy free time on the adjacent beach.
A rustic brunch is served here, including stuffed sandwiches made with typical local products, accompanied by Sicilian wine and water.
From June to September, a guided climb of the Turkish Steps is sometimes available for about 30 minutes, organized by the Municipality of Realmonte. This optional visit is not included in this tour and depends on access permissions and visitor quotas.
