Description
The Catania Chamber Orchestra specializes in reviving the Italian opera tradition. It consists of professional orchestra members from top Sicilian conservatories and promising young musicians from Catania, recognized nationally and internationally. This musical season features opera concerts combining small orchestral ensembles and vocal performances.
The concerts highlight the work of Vincenzo Bellini, Catania’s renowned composer, and explore opera productions from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The repertoire includes works by Mascagni, Verdi, Rossini, Puccini, Donizetti, Bizet, and others, offering an extensive journey through classic opera.
Performances take place in the historic Church of the Badia di Sant'Agata, located next to Catania’s Cathedral, where Maestro Bellini is buried.
