From Catania: Agrigento and Piazza Armerina Full-Day Trip
144 ReviewsJourney back to the days of the Greeks and Romans in Sicily on a full-day trip to Agrigento and Piazza Armerina. Admire the ruins of Greek temples and more.
The owner of La Spelonca and some of his friends play the guitar and sing in the evening, and that's the strongest feature of this restaurant. Tourists love to go there, you won't find many locals.
La Spelonca is the typet of trattoria which opened in northern European countries in the sixties and seventies, with pebbledashed walls and ceilings and red-white checked tablecloths. The only thing missing are drip candles on bulbous wine bottles. No, we are joking - the interior is quite nice, exuding an old fashioned charm.
The prices are very affordable, but La Spelonca is a bit tricky to find.
Germans could be put off (I was) by the name Spelonca, a Spelunke is a gloomy harbour dive.....with dark figures hanging around
