Il Barocco is a delightful restaurant housed in a beautiful baroque hotel of the same name, just few moments away from the San Giorgio cathedral.
On fine days chill and dine on the outside tables and watch the comings and goings around the restaurant.
The warm welcome is effusively Sicilian without descending into parody. Everything soothes here, from the soft yellow walls finished off with period baroque touches including arches and columns and a lovely collection of art work.
The capable kitchen works an excellent-value menu ranging from tagliatelle with walnuts to Sicilian beefsteak and Ragusan sausage. Desserts include cannoli di ricotta with a generous flavour of marsala wine and lemon sorbet and crema di ricotta. Seafood aficionados should try the linguine alle vongole, linguine with clams, which are simply delicious.
Let's not forget to mention that the portions are more than generous, so come on empty stomach.
