Description

Away from the busiest tourist circuits, a relaxed walking tour awaits you, strictly limited to a maximum of 8 participants, to guarantee an educational, personalized, and engaging experience. We'll meet at the entrance gate to the site. From there, we'll give you the tickets (so you won't have to wait in line at the ticket office), and we'll start our guided tour. Together, we'll explore the Hellenistic road, the Greek theater (the site's crown jewel), the latomie (stone quarries) with a fascinating 3rd-century BC rock bas-relief and Byzantine hypogeal tombs, the odeon and the agora area, trying to imagine the daily organization and the fabric of city life in Greek times. If possible, I'll take you to the Antiquarium, which has interesting explanatory panels on the main ancient buildings of the site, the history of the city of Akrai, and the archaeological research at the site.
