DescriptionAfter meeting with your guide for the day, you will depart Politeama Theatre by car toward Largo Antonio Sellerio. Your nature hike will then begin from here, at the slopes of Monte Pellegrino. You will venture through the Old Stairway and the Medieval Route, before traveling through the Goethe forest and ending at Piazzale di Santa Rosalia for a visit to the sanctuary and the pond. The itinerary follows what was theoretically the last part of the pilgrimage of St. Rosalia (known as 'the Santuzza'), from Santo Stefano to Palermo. Today, this is the route of the ritual pilgrimage that annually takes place on the night between September 3rd and September 4th. You will have the chance to discover the tradition and history of the patron saint and all of the associated folk tales about her life and miracles. Finally, at the top of the mountain, you will have time to take a break and sample an assortment of traditional street food, accompanied by a soft drink or a beer.
