Description

This tour begins with a meeting point where you will join a small group and meet your local guide. After a brief introduction, you will take a short walk to a small grocery store known for its 100% Sicilian products. Here, you will sample appetizers such as marinated sardines, charcoal-smoked sun-dried cherry tomatoes, and a selection of fresh cheeses and local delicacies.

You will then stroll along the waterfront towards Cefalù’s historic center, stopping at one of the town’s distinctive squares to enjoy an aperitivo the way locals do, sitting on the steps of a 15th-century church.

The tour continues through the historic center visiting landmarks such as the Arab-Norman Cathedral, the Bastion, the Old Marina, Porta Pescara, and the Medieval Laundry. You will explore narrow alleyways, take in views along a cliffside path by the citadel, and immerse yourself in the town’s atmosphere.

The experience concludes with an authentic family-style lunch at a local restaurant. The meal features traditional Cefalù starters like Polpette di Sarde (sardine meatballs), Caponata (aubergine, tomato, and pepper relish), Zucca (sweet and sour pumpkin), Ricotta Fresca delle Madonie, and Crocchette di Baccalà (salted cod croquettes).

Main courses include Pasta a Taianu, unique to Cefalù, and classic Pasta con le Sarde, following traditional recipes. Each dish is paired with house wines including Prosecco, white, red, and Malvasia varieties.

The lunch ends with homemade biscuits dipped in a sweet fortified wine, served on a balcony overlooking the sea and Cefalù’s old pier.

The small group setting enables personal interaction with your guide, who shares insights on history, art, and local social topics. This experience encourages questions and engagement beyond observation.
