Description

For many years, the Vivere Slow association has been cultivating the idea of creating a path in a portion of the territory of the municipality of Contessa Entellina in the province of Palermo, recovering the ancient paths, some of which are no longer used, between the town and the ancient abbey of Santa Maria del Bosco and creating a path that can be used by everyone. The opportunity came with a call published by Gal Valle del Belice, which we participated in. So, we started exploring and mapped out a route that showcases the beauty of this strip of land, which still preserves one of Sicily's few natural forests. The trail is about 15 km long with various rest stops, fountains where you can cool off, and shady spots to take a break. We've created a paper map that shows the main attractions and a digital map you can use to navigate the trail independently. We've built a rest area with a picnic spot where you can relax and maybe even try some of the wonderful local products. At the start of the trail, you'll find a 'local library' with information about the surrounding towns.
