Letojanni

Letojanni is a seaside resort just six kilometres from Taormina and about 65 kilometres from Catania. The village features a long sandy beach, several very good seafood restaurants, a nice beach promenade, bars, beach clubs, lidos with all facilities for enjoyable days at the sea, and accommodation from B&Bs, holiday apartments and villas to cosy small hotels and the big four star resort Antares-Olimpo-Le Terrazze with Spa, swimming pools and family rooms. A stay in Letojanni comes recommended for all those who want to spend a relaxing and affordable vacation in the vicinity of mundane Taormina. Letojanni is a lively little seaside resort in summer, but far more quiet than Taormina or Giardini-Naxos.

Letojanni is also a good choice for disabled travellers - many lidos have wheelchair access.

Beach of Letojanni

The sandy beach stretches for several kilometres. There are fully equipped lidos where you'll find sunbeds, umbrellas, restaurants, showers and life guards, but also free beaches.

The Lungomare Via Luigi Rizzo, is flanked by restaurants, bars and beach clubs.

Accommodation in Letojanni

Letojanni offers accommodation for every budget and every taste. There is the huge complex Antares-Olimpo-Le Terrazze, but also a campsite, some smaller hotels, B&Bs, apartments and for people seeking tranquil at the end of the beach the Park Hotel Silemi. For those who plan to rent an apartment: all bars and cafés offer breakfast.

Restaurants in Letojanni

Letojanni is well known for its excellent seafood restaurants, many of them are located directly at the beach. Worth a mention is the village's 'Classic' Ristorante Ficodindia. If you have enough of bustling Giardini-Naxos and lively Taormina, just hop on a bus or catch a taxi and spend a great evening out, eating delicious seafood specialties or a yummy pizza in Letojanni, while admiring the splendid views.

Nightlife in Letojanni

You want a relaxing holiday, but from time to time you need a night out? Letojanni features some very nice bars like the 'Twin Pub' with live music, and chic lounge bars at the beach. Meeting point of the locals and holiday guests is the beautiful small main square Piazza Durante where you can start your night out having a delicious ice cream, a cool beer or a cocktail.

Events in Letojanni

There are several small festivals with Sicilian folk music throughout the year. Just check from time to time our Events page.

The Teatro Greco and the Palazzo dei Congressi in Taormina are the main venues for the summer festival, held each year between June and September. Performances encompass fashion shows, classical music, rock and pop concerts, dance, opera and theatre performances. The season starts in June with the Taormina Film Fest and goes until end of September. Book your ticket in time, because performances of world stars are usually sold out very early. Excursions from Letojanni

Letojanni is a very good starting point for excursions by local bus to Taormina. The pick-up point for organized tours is in walking distance of most accommodations. So, even if you'd like to spend the rest of your life hanging out at the wonderful beach, we propose at least a trip to Taormina, a tour to Mount Etna, and to Catania. But also Agrigento, the Aeolian Islands, Piazza Armerina and Palermo make great days out.

How to get to Letojanni

By car

Take the A 18/E45 from Messina (25 min), Syracuse (1 h 15 min) and Catania (50 min), the A 19/18/E45 from Palermo via Catania (2 h 30 min) and Cefalù (2 h10 min),  from Ragusa and Modica SS 115/A18/E45 via Syracuse and Catania (2 h 20 min), from Noto the A18/E45 ( 1 h 30 min).

By bus & train

Buses from Messina and Catania arrive at the Bus Terminal in Taormina, while trains from these towns pull in at the station Taormina-Giardini at the bottom of the hill. Local buses bring you the rest of the way. Catania Airport is the nearest airport, about 60 km away from Letojanni. The last local bus (Interbus) departs at 20.15 h from Catania airport, so if you arrive late, think about renting a car, because a taxi is quite expensive – a ride costs around € 120,00. If you arrive at Palermo it is best to rent a car, just take the highway A 19 to Catania and from Catania the highway A 18 to Messina – exit Taormina and follow the signs..
