Description
The day trip begins with a ride on the Etna cable car, which will take us from an altitude of 1900 meters to 2500 meters. Once we reach 2500 meters, we will begin trekking in a northwesterly direction, walking on the lava erupted during the 2002 eruption. Once we reach an altitude of 2700 meters, we will enter the effusive crater of 2002, walking inside a lava flow channel created during that eruption. After a short break, we will continue our ascent until we reach the highest point of the explosive craters formed in 2002 on the southern slope of Mount Etna. There, you will not only be able to walk along the edge of the craters, but also admire the summit craters with their latest lava flows up close. We will continue through magical lunar landscapes to look out over the extraordinary caldera of the Belvedere della Valle del Bove, which belongs to the ancient eruptive centers. Next, skirting the imposing eruptive cone of the 'Laghetto' crater, formed during the 2001 eruption, we will reach the cable car station that will take us comfortably back to the starting point. It will be a journey through geology, volcanology, and history, admiring the craters that generated the most recent and significant lateral activity on the southern slope of Mount Etna.Includes
