Cafè O'Neil - Bar Ristorante Pizzeria Irish Pub
Sicily
The Café O'Neil in Giardini-Naxos is always well frequented, mostly by tourists, but also many locals come here on a regular base. We know some people from Catania celebrating here at least once a year. For a good reason: the food is really good, portions are generous, prices fair and the staff is superfriendly and professional. All this is topped by the extraordinary communication skills of the half Irish owner Anthony - hence the (for Sicily) unusual decor and the name Café O'Neil.
Since my arrival in Sicily we often come here, for a lunch in form of a sandwich, salad or an omelette, extended dinners or just a coffee or a beer. Whatever we ate, meat or fish, veggies or chips, pizza, pasta or risotto, homemade Sicilian desserts, crepes or ice cream: everything is fresh, of quality and cooked with skill. You'll be welcomed with a refreshing glass of sparkling prosecco, and then you are spoilt for choice - the menu is vast.
Definitely worth a try are the pasta with swordfish sauce and pistachio - a 'must' local dish in Eastern Sicily, the seafood risotto and any sort of freshly caught fish.
Apart from the good house wine and the beer, there are some excelllent drops in Anthony's well stocked cellar.
Café O'Neil is comfortably located for a beach-goers' quick lunch, just some steps off the beach of Recanati. Omelettes, salads, sandwiches and toasts are waiting for you.
In July and August you could also have breakfast at Cafè O'Neil, a real good old English breakfast....
Café O'Neil is a cozy place where you'll find good food, wine and beer, great service, great courtesy and a warm Sicilian welcome. It is what you hope for when you come to Sicily. Ideal for both locals and tourists.
